On May 21, 2017 the Culture Directorate of Sofia Municipality, Bulgarian Art and Folklore Center "Nestya" and "Future for the Talents of Bulgaria" organize a Festival of Fire-dancing in Sofia.
The feast is dedicated to May 21 - St. Constantine and Elena Day which is also a day of Fire-dancers. Such big Festival of fire-dancing will be held for the first time in Bulgaria and Europe, and Sofia will host the first one.
Nestinarstvo (fire-dancing) is one of the most ancient and beloved Bulgarian rituals and enjoys great interest.
The shows of the fire-dancers will be on 4 fire at the same time (each with a diameter of 5 meters), performed by 16 of the best, authentic fire-dancers in Bulgaria (from the region of Strandja), under the sound of a special musical accompaniment.
The program of the Festival includes the biggest fire dance, a rich folklore program, a farm market, a folk show with bagpipes and drums.
Guests of the festival will be several famous ensembles and performers - Yanka Rupkina, Kalinka Zgurova, Ventsislav Penev, Gina Ivanova, Zlatka Stavreva, folk ensembles Zdravetz, Berserche, Svetlina and others.
