Kouker fest "Starcheshka bulka"

Every year, a week before the religious festival Sirni Zagovezni, in the village of Tuja is held a mummers festival which is popular with the name "Starcheshka bulka" ("The bride of the old man"). During the festival the villagers and the guests can enjoy the mummers and the ancient ritual (handed down from generation to generation) and become familiar with the authentic traditions and typical mummers` masks and costumes made of sheepskin. In festival participate dance ensembles from the Taja and the region, groups of mummers from villages of Taja, Turia, and others., children from kindergarten Nezabravka in village of Tuja and others.
The celebration was accompanied with lot of gaiety and traditional Bulgarian dances (horo). In some of the old houses, under the vines or near the fireplaces, the guests can taste delicious homemade dishes and local wines.
