Festival of paper lanterns

Festival of paper lanterns in Gabrovo is held annually in the first or second Saturday of September. Its first edition was in 2011 and his founders are Antoslav Iliev and  Ventsi Angelov.

The festival is not a competition. Its idea is to break the monotony in the city life in one beautiful and magical way.

The event is held at Vazrajdane Square and starts around 20:30. Shortly before the complete sunset the hundreds of participants start light and release simultaneously to the air their flying lanterns. The heaven is lavished with hundreds of beautiful paper lanterns that rise up slowly until become small bright dots that look like stars. The spectacular music during the event further enhances the experience.

This year (2015) the edition is scheduled for September 5. There visitors will be able to see also children's exhibition of watermelon lanterns. Any child who participate in the exhibition will receive free paper (Chinese) lantern.

There will be also live music (concert of youth group SOLAR from the Aprilovska gimnazia school), a spectacular fire performance of formation FIMS, emotions and pleasant surprises from the organizers.
