Asen Balkanski (his real name is Slavcho Georgiev Drotsanov) was a guerrilla, a participant in the antifascist movement during World War II and commander of Pirot guerrilla detachment. He was born in 1920 in village of Chuprene and died in 1943 in a battle against the fascists near village Topli Dol (Serbia).

His native house was transformed into a museum and today is one of the landmarks of the village of Chuprene.
