Type: Museum
Location: Town Vratsa »
In Bulgarian: Музей на детето »
The Museum of the child in town of Vratsa is situated in the house-museum "Gregory Naidenov" in the city center. Like the Museum of carriages this museum is also a part of the Revival-Ethnographic complex Sophroniy Vrachanski in the town.
The museum presents the life of children from the region in the late XIX and early XX century - toys, clothing, household items, photos and more. The exhibition is divided into two parts. On the lower floor are exhibits related to the children from the villages, while on the upper floor are the these related with the life of the urban children.
In the exposition related to the rural children are shown many handmade toys. They are made by natural materials (wood, straw, rags, etc..) and by reshaping everyday objects. Most often these are puppets of people and animals whose heads are made of gourds, nuts or fruits. The clothes of the dolls are simple but very cheerful and colorful and certainly entertaining the kids. In the same exposure can be seen tiny colorful pitchers -a substitute of baby bottles and nipples.
In the section of the urban children are displayed also many clothes and toys, but here they are more expensive, more accurate and with more complex embroideries and pictures. There are shown items of mass-produced toys from this period, children`s hats, colorful children`s chairs, wooden toys carved in the shapes of horses, soldiers, animals and other, children`s books, drum, cubes and others. Among the most interesting objects there are restored luxury pram and baby bed, whose metal trays are decorated with fabulous pictures.
