The Toutev house in Panagyurishte is famous with the fact it is the place where on 20-th of April 1876 was proclaimed the April uprising. When in 1986 the courier from Koprivshtitsa brought the news, that Koprivshtitsa revolted, the leaders ahead with Benkovski and Volov decided to rise in revolt.
The house was owned by Ivan Tutev - a wealthy citizen of Panagyurishte and a revolutionary. Nowadays it is preserved as a museum.
