The Open-air Archaeologists exposure (the Lapidarium) in town of Montana is located in the park "Popskata gradina", next to the church "St. St. Cyril and Methodius".
The exhibition is part of the Montana Historical Museum and was opened in 2001. It includes a large number (56) of archaeological monuments found in the region of Montana. The inscriptions over them give information about the culture and history of the region in the periods after II - III century A.D.
There are exhibited many artifacts testifying to the respect to different ancient gods - Diana (the goddess protector of Montana), Apollo, Hygeia and others. Some of the exhibits are related to various Roman emperors and governors, who in the past was managed and ruled the lands in province of Lower Moesia and the region.
The ancient monuments evidenced for the relationship of our ancestors with the European civilization and have great cultural and historical value.
