Regional Natural History Museum
The Regional Museum of Natural History in Plovdiv was opened in 1955 as "Temporary exhibition of materials of a future Natural History Museum". In 1960 was opened the first scientifically and artistically arranged exhibition, related to the Bulgarian flora, fauna and geology. In 1970 - 1971 were found the research funds to the museum sections: "Geology", "Botany", "Zoology of invertebrates" and "Vertebrate zoology", and in 1974 "Minerals of the Rhodope mountain", and were expanded expositions as "Geology", "Edible and poisonous mushrooms", "Protected Areas and plants in the Plovdiv region" and others.
Permanent exposures that can be seen today in the Regional Museum of Natural History - Plovdiv are: Botany, Invertebrates, Aquarium, Sea bottom, Fishes, Amphibians, Reptiles, Birds, Mammals
