Museum of the Socialist Art
"The Museum of the Socialist Art" (also called "Museum of the Totalitarian Art") in Sofia was opened on 19/09/2011. It is located in the metropolitan area between buildings Traffic Police (KAT) and the National Investigation Service. The museum is unique in the Europe and the world (there is similar museum, but poorer of quality exhibits in Hungary) and aims to collect, preserve and display all forms of the art from the period 1944-1989, the thematically related to the epoch of socialism in Bulgaria.
The "Museum of the totalitarian art" consists of a sculpture park with an area of 7500 square meters, where are exposed statues of communist functionaries (Lenin, Stalin, Georgi Dimitrov and others - 77 to the moment of its open) and an exhibition hall with an area of 550 square meters, with other 95 art works, predominantly with proletarian themes.
"The Museum of totalitarian art" is a branch of the National Art Gallery Sofia.
