Thracian sanctuary "Eagle Rocks"

This Thracian sanctuary is located in the "Eagle Rocks" (Kartal Kaya) locality, about 4 km south of town of Ardino. The cult complex dates back to VI-IV century BC. and was used for rituals and burials. The sanctuary is a large rock in which are cut about 90 trapezoidal niches. These niches were used for potteries and tiles related with the cult to the deceased. Under the rocks there are traces of tools, altars and other ancient objects.
