The monument to fallen Soviet submariner in Sozopol is dedicated to all of the 237 Soviet submariner from five submarines died in the Bulgarian Black Sea coast during World War II. The memorial was officially opened on 11.02.1969 year and was totally renovated in 2007.
The first monument is from granite and is a work of architect Alyosha Kafedzhiyski. It is constructed at the place where in 1941 were found the bodies of 2 Soviet submariner - Violet Lamrentievich and Frol Dimitrovich Terehov, whose submarine penetrated the mine in the area of the cape Kaliakra and was completely destroyed. Over the years was done serious investigation work and and an exposition about the both Soviet submariners was made. There are shown photos and materials by the Military Museum in Sevastopol.
After the political changes in Bulgaria in 1989 the monument is declined, but in 2007 was completely restored and the region surrounding it cultivated. Each year, on 9 May (day of the victory against Nazi Germany and Day of Europe) population of Sozopol and town guests served wreaths in honor of the fallen soldiers.
