The Black monument is located in the town of Lovech and was built in honor of perished in the battle for the freedom of Lovech on 22.08.1877 during the Russo-Turkish War (1877-1878). It is devoted to the fallen soldiers from the 118th Shuyski Infantry Regiment (4 soldiers) and from 64 Kazan Infantry Regiment (11 soldiers).
The monument was erected in the park "Stratesh" in 1902. It has a shape of truncated pyramid ending with a Christian cross. The memorial is made of black metal plates, made in a factory in St. Petersburg. The name of the monument origin from the color of these plates.
Over the plates there are mouldings of figures and texts.
