Museum of Prison in Veliko Tarnovo is situated at Saedinenie square, near Museum of the Bulgarian Revival and Constituent Assembly and Museum of Contemporary History. The building of the museum dates back to XIX century and was used as prison till 1954.
The construction is made by stones and has a ground floor, two upper storeys, two inner yards surrounded by high walls and some service buildings.
The museum exposition lies on the ground and 1st floors and reproduces the real prison atmosphere with the restored cells where many famous revolutionaries were locked up and tortured. There are displayed also instruments of torture.
