The Sarafova mound is located near the village of Kran, about 5 km north of Kazanlak, 1 km right of the road Stara Zagora - Kazanlak - Shipka - Gabrovo. The mound was excavated in September 1995. The discovered mound-temple is dated to the IV-II century BC.
The necropolis complex consists of a corridor, built of well-processed stone blocks, and two rectangular rooms built, of excellent made bricks (this is one of the two still preserved ancient necropolis in Bulgaria, built of bricks). The walls are covered with shtukatura and horizontal layers of white, black, red, orange, yellow.
The tomb was robbed in the antiquity. After the studies there were found remains of a horse skeleton (in the corridor of the complex), small objects with gold and silver ornaments and gilded clay amulets.
