Settlement mound and prehistoric sanctuary

The settlement mound "Kosharna" is located in the locality "Kaynak dere" near village of Kosharna (municipality Slivo pole). It is sitaued on a small slope, densely overgrown with vegetation and is shaped in form of a truncated cone. There were studied four residential layers with materials that belong to the Late Stone-Copper Age (4450 - 4300 BC).
In 2007 there was discovered a prehistoric sanctuary dedicated to the cult of the phallus, which is more than 6300 years old. The sanctuary is only one, from this type, discovered in Bulgaria. There were found numerous well preserved artifacts - ceramic phallus, ceramic male figure, female bone idol, ceramic fragments, animal bones, tools of flint, copper, bone objects connected with ancient cults and others.
