Historical museum

The Historical Museum of Isperih is the successor of the founded in 1927 Local Archaeological Society "Khan Omurtag". The members of this society gathered a multifarious collection of archaeological findings that were exhibited in the local community center "Saznanie". Later to the exposition were added ethnographic objects from the region of Isperih. In 1975 was opened a permanent museum exhibition in the new building of the community center "Saznanie", which in 1978 became a subsidiary of the Regional Historical Museum Razgrad. After finding of Sveshtari tomb in 1982 the scientific researches in the region are increased and in 1984 the exposition of Isperih got the status of an independent museum.

Nowadays the Historical Museum Isperih keeps more than 30 000 exhibits arranged in sections Archeology, Ethnography, New and modern history. The museum also has administrative and restoration laboratories and storehouse. The museum also manages sites as the Historical and Archaeological reserve Sboryanovo and windmill in the village of Belintsi.

The permanent museum exposition covers an area of ​​180 m2 and is situated in building of the community center "Saznanie". Here is traced the history of town of Isperih from the antiquity to the present day. There are exhibited archaeological findings, ethnographic materials, documents, photographs and belongings of famous personalities from the region.
