Sanctuary Skribina

The sanctuary "Skrinbina" is located in the Western Rhodope Mountains, near the village of Kribul, municipality of Satovcha, 1157 meters above the sea level. The place is known among local people under name "The Stone". It represents a stone arch that is pierced high in the natural rock through which the sick can get.

Interesting is the belief that the area has keeper - а great black snake, which periodically appears to the people, called on via a magical ritual by a healing practitioner. At the moment (2017) this is Baba Julia Zemedelska. She was born and lives in the village and calls the ritual "riding the stone". Before her the function was performed by her mother and her sister. Baba Julia begins to perform the ritual practices after the "Stone" is cured her of an indescribable illness.

According believings, as the serpent periodically changes the skin, so the sick, after passing through the rock, must undress his old clothes and attach them to the trees around the sanctuary.

According to the people, the sanctuary helps those suffering after severe catastrophes, people with recurrent nightmares, injuries affecting the motor apparatus, feminine and mental illnesses.
