Thracian Rock Tombs
Around the village of Pchelari (Stambolovo Municipality) are located many Thracian rock tombs dating back to the early Iron Age (II-I millennium BC). Such were found in the areas "Hambar kaya", "Ak kaya", "Kara in", "Mal kazan", "Hodjas" and others.
In the region of "Hambar kaya" were discovered 6 rock tombs. They are buried at the top of a rocky area and were covered with large stone slabs.
The most impressive tomb is located in the area named "Kara in" - 2.5 kilometers southeast of the village. The tomb is carved into a cliff and is shaped as trapezium. Its entrance is oriented to the southeast and has the same trapezoidal form. Immediately above it the nature had formed an interesting rock overhang which makes the tomb to look like a dolmen.
The Tombs near village of Pchelari have been declared to be cultural monuments.
