The Thracian Tomb near village of Aleksandrovo (Haskovo region) was discovered in 2000 when was damaged by looters. Later, in 2002 it was excavated by the archaeologist Dr Georgi Kitov. He discovered a round chamber of about 3 meters in diameter, accessible through a small antechamber and a tunnel, approximately 6 meters long. Both the antechamber and main chamber are decorated with well-preserved frescoes with a hunting scene that reflect the artist`s knowledge of Late Classical and Early Hellenistic art.
The site enjoys immense interest on the part of the cultural and scientific circles and the broad public in Bulgaria and the world and is suggested to the UNESCO list.
