The Orpheus mysteries celebrations and Trigrad Public holiday (7 Augist)
7-th August is the public holiday of Trigrad. During the holiday citizens and the guest of the town are enjoyed by performance of various folk ensembles, orchestras, famous singers of Rhodopes songs, as well as mummer casts from the villages of Shiroka Laka, Otets Paisievo, and Sushitza (the quarter of Karlovo).
From 2009, there takes place a reproduction of ancient pagan celebrations, practiced by Thracian tribes, which have to do with the myth of Orpheus and his descend to the underground world. The celebrations are named Orphic mysteries. Some of the ancient reproduced rituals are: "catching live fire", "offering", and "introducing participants to the secret world of mysteries". Later, all participants make their way to the Devil`s Throat cave.
Before going home, guests of the celebrations will go down to the "bottom land", after which there will be an offering requiem for all souls, as well as a table after Bacchanalia.
