The Historical Museum of Klisura is housed in a building named "Community Center - memorial museum" built on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the April Uprising. This building is the result of one of the largest charity works after the liberation, as it collected funds for 30 years. The building opened on May 2, 1926.
Here are stored documents and pictures that recreate the heroic and tragic episodes of the days of the April Uprising.Among the art collection are works of prominent Bulgarian artists as Zlatyu Boyadzhiev, Nenko Balkanski, Dechko Uzunov, Hristo Stanchev, Dimitar Kirov and others.
One of the most interesting and valuable artefacts in the exhibition are the preserved original bell, which was used to alarm the start of the April Uprising at 20 April 1876, and an authentic cherry cannon.
The historical museum includes several preserved museum houses:
- Pavurdjievata house - built in typical Renaissance style. In the courtyard is situated only preserved today rose oil machinery. The house is important also for the Bulgarian history - here was founded the first secret revolutionary committee for the Fourth Revolutionary District - Plovdiv.
- Kozinarova house - in the yard of the house was restored the well known for the tragic story of the lady of the house, which at the date of suppression of the April Uprising is thrown together with her four young children in the well to avoid desecration of the Turks.
- Chervenakova house - the first restored house after the burning of the town where were welcomed the Russian liberators. On the first floor is an authentic store from the early XX-th century. In the house is located also a "Museum of potatoes".
Klisura Historical Museum is included in the list of "100 tourist sites in Bulgaria".
