House of George Danchov - Zografina (or Danchova house, as it is known) is located in the Old Plovdiv. It was built in the late XVIII century. After the liberation of Bulgaria from Ottoman rule here lived the famous Bulgarian painter and photographer George Danchov - Zografina - a revolutionary, collaborator of Vasil Levski, a former exile in Diyarbakir and volunteer during the Liberation War of Bulgaria.
The house has an asymmetrical plan, with three floors, one of which is underground. Impressive are the beautiful carved ceilings.
The building was restored using authentic technologies within the joint project of the Chamber of Crafts in Koblenz (Germany) and Plovdiv Municipality, with funding from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
There are plans the house to work as wine museum, where residents and visitors of Plovdiv will be able to taste the production of local wineries and learn the history of winemaking in the region.
The Dantchov's House was declared a cultural monument of national importance.
