In town of Lom there are many historical buildings, 57 of which have been declared architectural monuments (1986). They are located mainly along the main street of the town and once were owned by the big traders (Milanese, Staykovi, Andreevi, Tsenko Todorov, Tsonzarovi, Tabakovi, Poptodorova, Kusidis, Bechev etc.) who held shops and commercial stores here.
The buildings were constructed in the late XIX and early XX century by projects of Austrian, Belgian, German and Hungarian architects. Their style is "late secession" and "pseudo-Baroque", with stylish and elegant facades. Very interesting are the steeples, the combination of plant and figural motifs around the tall windows and the beautiful ornaments near the balconies.
