Varosha architectural reserve
The architectural reserve of Varosha is located in town of Lovech. It includes all of the old part of town, located on the right bank of the Osam River, and parts of buildings from the left bank of the river, near the covered bridge. Here are situated more than 200 architectural and historical monuments. Interest for the tourists are the restored houses from the period of the Bulgarian National Revival period, most of which are two-storied, with a stone basement, a rickety first floor with timbered walls.
Point of interest in quarter of Varosha are also the two from the former seven churches which are preserved to the present day - Temple of the Assumption (aka "Uspenie Bogorodichno") from 1834 and "Sveta Nedelya" church from 1535.
In period 1872 - 1874 the great Bulgarian master Kolyo Ficheto builds the famous covered bridge over Osum river - a stone construction with a wooden superstructure, housing 64 shops, which nowadays connecting quarter of Varosha with the town center.
Varosha has been declared a historical and architectural reserve in 1969.
