Art-gallery "Vladimir Dimitrov - The Master"
Art Gallery "Vladimir Dimitrov-The Master" in Kyustendil is included in the list of The hundred tourist sites of Bulgaria.
It was established in 1944 in the Ahmed Bey mosque. The Initiative was of Dragan Lozenski, Cyril Tsonev and Dr. Georgi Efremov. The base of the galley were 50 works of Vladimir Dimitrov the Master.
In 1959 the gallery was moved to separate building in the former synagogue. The exhibition included 152 paintings of the 18 local artists.
In November 1972, in honor of the 90th anniversary of the birth of Vladimir Dimitrov the Master was opened a new building which houses the gallery. The area size was 245 m2.
In 1984, the number of pictures in the gallery is 2368. There are exhibited not only works of Vladimir Dimitrov the Master, but some other artists like Moritz Bentsionov, Stoyan Venev, Assen Vassilev, Nikola Mirchev and others. From its founding until today there were performed more than 500 solo and group exhibitions.
In 1980 started a project for expansion of the gallery, but it was completed 19 years later.
Today, the gallery houses 3180 paintings of the patron of the gallery and other artists.
