Art gallery Peykovi brothers
The Art Gallery of Sevlievo is housed in a building dating from 1878 and built by the project of an Austrian architect as house for the Sevlievo merchant Iliya Denchev. The gallery is named after the brothers Asen and Iliya Peykovi - famous artists, born and grew up in Sevlievo and worked in Italy. The gallery was opened on June 27, 2008 on the occasion of 100 anniversary of Assen Peykov.
The gallery occupies an area of 480 m2 on 4 floors. On the ground floor are shown small sculptures by famous masters. On the first floor are situated works by Peykovi brothers. On the second floor are displayed works of Svetlin Rusev, Encho Pironkov, Nikolai Ruschukliev, Evgeni Bosyattski, John Kulekov and others. The third floor is used for temporary exhibitions and the fourth floor is a place where cultural events are held - literature readings, small theater productions, meetings etc.
In the gallery are exposed also many photos, documents and certificates of brothers Peikovi.
One of the most valuable exhibits is a marble chess-set with dimensions 120x120 cm, made in 1947 by Asen Peykov in Rome. The kit is made by three types of marble and chess pieces made from bronze.
