Zlatyu Boyadzhiev is one of the most prominent Bulgarian painters, known with his portraits and landscapes. The artist was born on 22 October 1903 in Brezovo (Plovdiv region), and died on February 2, 1976 in Plovdiv.
The Art-gallery "Zlatyu Boyadzhiev" in Plovdiv is housed in the former house of Dr. Stoyan Chomakov. The building is in a neoclassical style and was built in the period 1862-1865. After the liberation his heirs have provided the house for the residence of King Ferdinand.
Since 1984 the building houses the largest collection of paintings by the famous artist.
