The old school and museum
The old religious school in village of Gumosthnik is located in the courtyard of the church "St. Nicholay Letni". It was founded in 1829 and is the only surviving "kiliyno" (religious, from bulgarian "kilya" - cell) school in Lovech district. During its existence the school has acted more than 100 years as secular school too. In its current presence it was restored in 1979.
In one of the rooms of the school was made a restoration of the classroom from that time. There are shown school desk with sand boxes (used by the elementary students to write and then to clear it easy), tiles with narrow and wide rows at one side and squares for calculations at other, school appliances from that time. Among the exhibits is a reader-book from 1896.
On the first floor of the school is arranged a museum exhibition tracing the history of the village of Gumosthnik. There are exhibited objects from everyday life of the local population (buckles, kerosene lamps, distaffs, sickles, etc..), artifacts found during archaeological excavations of a Thracian mounds in the region, documents related to the victims drowned on Titanic and villagers died in different wars for liberation and unification of Bulgaria.
