The Rock-hewn churches in area of Suhara reka ("The dry river") near village of Golesh (Silistra region) are the earliest rock monasteries in the Bulgarian lands, dating back to the early Christian era, the period of late antiquity and early Byzantium. The complex includes seven monasteries and many churches, chapels and crypts. They are located in wilderness areas and have preserved its original interior and ekserior from late antiquity (IV-VI century).
