This six-century-old oak tree is located near the walls of the church "Virgin Birth" in the village of Nasalevtsi (region of Trun). The crown of the centuries-old wood is like walnut. It is assumed that the age of the tree is 638 years (to 2017). The location is considered sacred and the tree is a guardian of the village.
The oak had a twin which was struck by lightning in the 70s of the last century. For a long time people have used wood from the demolished tree as budnitsi on Christmas Eve. After its burning, from its parts were made crosses and his ashes was used to cure or spread fertility in the fields.
The century-old oak tree of Nasalevtsi is Bulgarian participant in the competition "European Tree of 2017".
