Park "Hisarlaka"

The park Hisarlaka is situated near town of Kyustendil, on the hill with the same name - Hisarlaka. It extends to 1300 m2. After some forestation activities nowadays there predominate the pine, white pine, spruce, fir, linden, maple and others.

Between the city and the park there are many paths including three asphalted roads, one of which can be used by cars. In the park have been made multiple alleys, recreation centers, sports fields and facilities, and restaurants that offering excellent conditions for fun and relax in terms of comfort and good food.

One of the most attractive places in the park is the fortress Hisarlaka. It was built in the end of the IV and the beginning of the V century. It was existed during the First and Second Bulgarian Kingdom, but was demolished in the XV century by the Ottomans. It has been used as a feudal castle. Today the castle is restored and illuminated and enjoys the visitors to the park.

In the Park of "Hisarlaka" there is also a Zoo, a health sanatorium for children, an "Alley of Health" and others.

The park offers an incredible panoramic view of the Kyustendil Valley, to the town of Kyustendil and to the mountains around.

Hisarlaka is frequented visited by guests of the town and local people who come out for a walk. But at one date it is massive - 21 March - the public holiday of Kystendil. Then the people celebrate also the coming of the astronomical spring and an annual beauty competition "Miss Spring" is held in the park. Traditionally on this day the families and friends doing trips to the park, which usually finish with BQ and drinks. There are specially designed for these events wooden tables and benches, and a special places for grill and garbage collecting.
