Dr. Damian Ivanov is the first balneologist in Bulgaria and the first governor of the state mineral bath of Varshetz. He graduated in medicine in Austria and was applying all his scientific knowledge in medicine, balneology and his multilateral European culture to turn Varshetz in a famous balneo-resort at European level - a favorite place for the elite society of Bulgaria.
In appreciation his fellow citizens erected this monument in the town center - at the beginning of the park area.
