Alexi Rilets (1760-1850) was the first Bulgarian architect, master builder and woodcarver. He was born in Debar and died in the village of Rila (nowadays town), that is the reason a monument to be erected in town of Rila.
The monument is located in the central part of the town, in beginning of the park area.
Alexi Rilets is best known for his work on the restoration and maintenance of the Rila Monastery.
