The Monastery "St. Simeon the Stylite and St. Petka" near village of Ognyanovo (Elin Pelin municipality) is built with funds of the local villagers.
According to legends, a woman from the village (the grandmother Elena) dreamed there must be built a monastery are this place , but the owner of the land refused it. After a while, there was fell a thunder that killed several of his sheep. The man took this as a "sign from the God" and gave his consent. The old woman pointed exactly the place where the monastery to be build, and during the digging, the builders discovered here candles and icons.
Each year, on the summer Simeonovday (September 1) here is made a "kurban" (an offering) for the residents of Ognianovo and surrounding villages.
