The Monastery "St. Petka" is located in the northeastern part of the town of Svoge. It was founded at the end of XII century (1118) during the Second Bulgarian Kingdom.
The complex consists of an old church "St. Petka", a new three-nave parish church "St. Peter and Paul" and residential buildings.
The church "St. Petka" is small (12 x 5 m) and was built in XVI - XVII century. During the Ottoman yoke was destroyed and restored again in the second half of the XIX century. The church is a basilica, with one dome. There are preserved valuable icons and frescoes.
During the Ottoman rule the monastery was visited (1870) by the Bulgarian hero - the Apostle of the freedom Vasil Levski. After the liberation here came also the patriarch of the Bulgarian literature - Ivan Vazov, who dedicated to it his poem "Dream in the old church".
Svoge monastery "Sveta Petka" is declared monument of culture.
