The Batuliyski Monastery "Saint Nicholas" is located on the eponymous hill about a kilometer from the center of Batulia village.
The current church of monastery was consecrated in 1911 by the Sofia Metropolitan Partenii. It was built on the site of an ancient church, destroyed during the Ottoman rule.
At hills above the monastery were found remains of a fort - probably watchtower, which are still not studied.
The living area of the monastery (named by its builder, priest Emmanuel Zlatkov - "The inn") was built and consecrated on June 3, 1913 again by Bishop Partenii.
Alexander Stamboliyski (politician, former prime-minister of Bulgaria in the period 1919–1923) was a personal friend of the priest Emmanuel. In the summer of 1920 Stambolyski had spent a night in the monastery. In honor of this residence priest Emmanuel called two western rooms, where the great visitor was slept, the "Stambolijski rooms".
