The church St. Nikola-Old (aka Borunska church) is one of the main sights of town of Lom. It was constructed in XIII century during the reign of the Bulgarian king Mihail-Asen (1246-1257). In its "life" the church was destroyed several times but every time was restored again by local patriots. In its current view it is from 1885.
In 1760 here was opened a monastery school – one of the first in the Vidin diocese, where the alphabet, the breviary and the psalter were taught.
The church has icons painted by icon-painters from the Debar artistic school. Some of them were brought to the church St. Nikola-Young.
In 1975 the Borunska church was declared monument of culture.
