Health museum
The Health Museum in Varna is housed in the building of the former Institute of Hygiene and Epidemics (HEI) in the city (now the Regional Inspectorate for Public Health). The museum was created in 1974 following the model of the World Health Museum in Dresden.
The exhibitions are divided into 5 main sections:
- Anatomy and Physiology. There are models, posters and diagrams of the human body and various organs and systems.
- Nervous system. There is presented a model of the human brain. There are different buttons which include various screens explaining the processes in it. There are also tips on how to reduce nervous tension, to achieve faster time to relax and others.
- Cardiac system. There is displayed a model of the heart. With different sections are shown the structure of this most important human organ - the heart chambers, atria, aortic arch, etc. Through light indicators and information screens are explained the occurring processes.
- Digestive system - again represented by models.
- Last section is associated with human teeth and the care and hygiene which are necessary to prevent a man of dental problems
The Health Museum in Varna has also a video-hall with 60 seats and lot of video movies related to the human health.
