Natural Park Rusenski Lom
Natural Park Rusenski Lom is situated around 20km south of city of Ruse between villages of Bozhichen, Krasen, Shrtraklevo, Nisovo, Koshov and Ivanovo. The reserve covers an area of 3260 hectares in the valleys of the rivers Rusenski, Beli and Cherni Lom and their affluents in the Smesite district, where the rivers Beli and Cherni Lom merge and form the onset of Rusenski Lom.
The park has many interesting and valuable object as beautiful riverside terraces, meanders, high cliffs, areas varied of flora and fauna (some of them included in the Bulgarian Red Book), caves, rock formations, historical monuments of national and international significance, etc. In region are located the cultural-historical complex Cherven, the Rock-hewn churches and the Rock monastery of Ivanovo.
Rusenski Lom was declared protected area in 1970 and is one of the ten National Natural parks of Bulgaria.
