Taukliman Bay

Taukliman Bay (from Turkish - Bird Bay) is located on the northern Bulgarian Black-sea coast, south of Rusalka Holiday Village, 16 km east of Kavarna and 61 km north-east of Varna.

The area is famous for its magnificent small beaches, terraced slopes, abundance of hot mineral water and many scattered along the rocky islets.

The region is one of the many nature reserves along the Black Sea. During the seasonal migration, the bay welcomes hundreds of birds (seagulls, geese, etc..), which stop here to rest and feed.

Between the terraces there are lots of small caves that are the refuge of rare bird and reptile species included in the Red Book of Bulgaria. The most beautiful caves are located in the upper part of the landslide - the caves "Golyamata maara", "Temnata dupka", "Aragonitovata peshtera", "Iglenoto uho" and others.

6 km southwest of Taukliman is situated the cape Kaliakra. Archaeological studies have found many pagan temples, traces of medieval settlements, a Roman fortress from the 5th century CE, several stone vessels used for wine production and others.

The salt lake Taukliman, also called Nanevska Tuzla, is located in the southern part of the landslide coast. Its bottom is covered with black hydrogen sulphide mud, which is very healthy.
