This monument was erected from the inhabitants of the town Nikolaevo in honour to their distinguished countryman Nikolay Genchev.
Professor Nikolai Genchev (1931-2000) was born in Nikolaevo. He was a scholar, historian, corresponding member of BAS and rector of Sofia University "Kliment Ohridski" (1991-1993). Genchev is a winner of the International Herder Prize for contribution to European science.
