In 1991 the building of the Seryakova Kashta in town of Troyan - the house where George Seryakov (Gio), a revolutionary and a follower of Hristo Botev , a casualty from the 1876 battle at Milin Kamak - was placed at the disposal of the Troyan Painters Union to become their residence and a town art gallery.
In the last two decades it has hosted more than 16 exhibitions per year, displaying the works of local and visiting artists, as well as meetings of intellectuals, readings, concerts and other cultural events.
The gallery has at its disposal 5 exhibition halls; an office offering detailed information and advertising materials on the various authors; a stall for clay, textile and other souvenirs and an Art Club coffee-bar which is a suitable gathering place of artists and art admirers.
The gallery cooperates with artists from the country and abroad. Some 5000 guests visit the place annually - artists, patrons, students, Bulgarian and foreign tourists.
