Deultum Fortress
Deultum fortress is located at lands of the present village of Debelt, 17km south-west of Burgas. The oldest evidence of settlement on these lands date from the Late Bronze Age - XIII-XII century BC.
Durring the reign of Emperor Vespasian (69-79) there was based part of a Roman army and the town grown up and was set as important economic and commercial center under the name Deultum.
The town has its peak during the management of the tribe Severi (first half of the III-th century AD). In IV century Deultum is the third largest city in the province Hemimont.
The city continued to grow-up during the next centuries when fortress was expanded and was made more stronger.
Some of the archaeological findings are displayed in the local Archaeological museum of Debelt.
