The Byalgrad fortress is located 2 km south-east of village of Gugutka. The fortress is dated to the end of XII century and is one of the well preserved in Bulgaria.
The citadel`s walls reach up to 8 meters in height and 2 m in wide in their base. The name of the fortress comes from the white stone blocks (in Bulgarian "byal" is white and "grad" is town) from which the fortress was built.
The bases of a basilica were found in the east part of the fortress.
