Levent Tabia Fortress is situated on the highest place of town of Ruse - Sara Bair hill. The fortress was built in the 20 years of XIX-th century by the Ottoman Empire as part of its defense system. The project of the citadel is work of the Prussian military engineer - officer Helmuth von Moltke, who designed also the Fort Medjidi Tabia near town of Silistra.
Levent Tabia was a healthy and safe facility and it remained intact until the liberation of Bulgaria when it was used to the needs of the newly formed military Danube fleet. The fort capacity was for 3000 soldiers and an artillery. During World War II there was accommodated an anti-air battery.
In 1972, Levent Tabia was transformed into an exquisite restaurant complex, which offers gourmet dishes from various Danube countries. Since 2005 Complex Leventa is upgraded and is part of the "Wine House Ruse".
