Rock monastery in Gradishteto locality
"Gradishte" Locality is located about 2 km south of the village of Petrov dol and 1.5 kilometers northeast of town of Provadia. There is a rock monastery, consisting of six cells. It dates from Middle ages, probably was used in XI - XIII centyry. Next to him are situated remains of a fortress (Fortress Gradishteto).
Two of the cells are located in the western part of the rock and they are connected each other. These caves are located at different levels than the other three, and this located higher, is three times larger than that below it. It has several openings and it is still visible traces of the niches in the walls.
The others cells are at other level and are oriented southwest. They are medium in size, compared with a similar cells in other rock monasteries from the region. Their size does not exceed 2.00 x 2.50 m. Although in the time the rocks were eroded there are still visible grooves of large facilities that are closed cells.
The monastery has a visual connection with the other four monasteries in the valley - Sara Kaya (Provadiya), Tapanite and Chukara (Krivnya), "St. George" (Petrov dol) and with the chapels near Provadia.
