The Bistritsa Monastery St. Petka is located in the Kalugerovi Livadi district (Vitosha mountain), in the northwestern outskirts of the Bistritsa village, around 15 km away from the capital Sofia.
The monastery was constructed in X-th century, but was destroyed during the Ottomans in XIV-th century. After the Liberation a small church was constructed here, which existed until 1951. Currently existing existing church was built in 1956.
Nowadays the monastery is an active and the complex includes a small church, residential and farm buildings.
