The ruins of Prechista fortress is located near village of Gradnitsa (Sevlievo municipality). It was built probably in the III-IV century and has Byzantine origin. The castle was created to guard Rusaliiski Pass.
During archaeological excavations at Prechista was discovered massive defensive system and a wall that goes around the hill. Part of the preserved outer wall has a height of 2-3 meters and is 3 meters wide. Inside the fortress can be seen ruins of homes, a basilica, and a rectangular defensive tower.
