The Church of St. George Martyr in the village of Pevets is located in the village center. Besides its architecture, it is interesting also with its history.
According to legends, the temple was erected in 1752 - during the Ottoman rule. After a brief existence it was demolished by the Turks. The locals asked for permission of the Pasha to build a new one. He gave it, but there was a condition - the church must be done in 40 days. For finished building was considered one that have a roof. Because the short deadline the people decided to lay the foundations and build the roof first, which managed to fit within the given deadline.
Years later, the church was destroyed again by an earthquake. In its final structure it was built in 1858.
In the churchyard there is a small building that had been a school in the past.
