Golashkata cave
"Golashkata cave" is located in the area "Osmansko dere" - 4-5 km. away of village of Golak and about 15 km. away from town of Kostenets. This is not a natural cave but the old mining gallery used hundreds of years ago (according to some theories - even before the Ottoman rule), so the cave is not part of the cave complex and is not connected with other caves.
Golashkata cave is 102 meters long with a displacement of 8m. and slope - 45%. The area of the cave is 0.5 decares. and inside it is composed of a limestone rock. It is characterized by high humidity.
Most characteristic for the cave is the presence of a large population of scary bats. The cave is inhabited by the following species: Great bat (Myotis myotis), Dalgokril bat (Miniopterus schreibersii), Dalgoprast bat (Myotis capaccinii), South horseshoe bat (Rhinolophus euryale), Large horseshoe bat (Rhinolophus ferrumequinum), little horseshoe (Rhinolophus hipposideros) and others.
The object is not available for free tourist visits and a qualified guide is needed.
